#Restore1stHampden

Hampden Bowling Club sits on the 1st Hampden Park. This fact was lost for over a 113 years. Yes Scotland didn’t know where its true home of Scottish Football was. There was no map known and it had foxed historians for decades. A massive thanks to the team at National Records of Scotland for helping to find it – Map Reference is RHP40386/1. Here is the “Fake or Fortune Moment” caught on camera.https://www.youtube.com/embed/BmyhcQMPEP8?version=3&rel=1&showsearch=0&showinfo=1&iv_load_policy=1&fs=1&hl=en&autohide=2&wmode=transparent

1st Hampden was home to Queens Park FC and the Scotland International Football Team from 1873 to 1884. Its one of the secrets of the sporting world and we are looking for everyone with an interest in our national heritage to help restore arguably the most important football building in the world and the surrounding grounds including Kingsley Gardens.

We need to preseve this for future generations to enjoy. We are doing everything possible to get support from the public, council, grant awarding bodies, Sports Glasgow, Bowls Scotland…the list is long.

The founders of Queens Park FC are regarded as pioneers of their time. Establishing one of the most famous football clubs in the world, creating the modern passing game and the template for every football stadium every built. The restoration of their original ground will continue that heritage through another sport and ensure that future generations know the legend of the first Hampden Park.

If you would like to help – please get in touch. It is one of the greatest projects in Scotland. The world of football owes a debt of gratitude to this patch of grass. It’s about time they helped ensure that this amazing history is preserved.
